Gretna is one of the small towns in Jefferson Parish, located southwest of Algiers Point. Emblematic of this area, it has a wide diversity of populations. Jefferson parish dates back to the 1600 s. At that time, native American tribes were numerous in that region. Soon, French settlers settle and build their farms on these fertile lands. They are then joined by Spaniards, Germans, Africans, Acadians and a little later by Italians, Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants. We can say from Jefferson that it is a host land. Gretna also has many ethnic restaurants.
