This village is nestled at the bottom of a cliff, in the heart of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve. Its houses are arranged in steps on a very uneven slope. The port and the village have two different entrances, but cars are not allowed to drive in the street that directly connects one to the other. It is surprising to see how well people have adapted to this beautiful but very special environment! In Elantxobe, St Mary Magdalene's Day is celebrated on 22 July with txakoli, and then the boats, in procession with those from the neighbouring ports of Mundaka and Bermeo, go around the island of Azaro. Make sure you have good shoes!
