This province, located north of Bangkok, near Ayutthaya and Nonthaburi, was first occupied by Mon immigrants from Burma from the th century. His name was first Sam Khok, but a visit by King Rama II in 1815 called her otherwise. The inhabitants provided him with a lotus flower very, and he decided to give a new name to the city, Pathum Thani, which means "the town of lotus". She now has many temples, parks and museums. In the middle of the Chao Prayah River basin, the province is crossed by numerous channels, and offers beautiful orange fields.
