Grand Montagne is not just another hamlet. Since the mid-1980s, the whole area, and particularly the space classified as a Nature Reserve, has benefited from the support of the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation which works on site in collaboration with the Forestry Service of the Regional Assembly of Rodrigues. Their work consists in protecting the rare endemic plants of this part of Rodrigues and in maintaining the habitat of the animals and birds whose territory it is. Guided tours are offered, as well as, in another style, at the Garden of the Five Senses. At Montagne Bois Noir, Tyrodrig offers a good dose of adrenaline!
