Located on the heights, 200 m from the sea and 5 minutes by car from Port Mathurin, the hamlet of Jean Tac, like that of Terre Rouge, is made up of a few large houses scattered over rather arid and little cultivated land. Through hard work and care, some have been transformed into gardens. This is the case of the Foulsafat Residence, one of the most famous guesthouses on the island. Its garden is composed exclusively of plants that have been able to adapt, such as hibiscus(foulsafat in Creole), bougainvillea and exotic fruit trees. An area is dedicated to endemic plants and the family also cultivates pitaya.
