To the south of the municipality of Nordreisa is the national park of the same name with an area of 806 km². The Reisa National Park was created in 1986 in order to "preserve a mountainous valley, beautiful and still wild, and to preserve its flora and fauna as well as its geological resources". The Reisaelv River has carved a deep canyon through the mountain plateau. The waterfalls, including the 269 m high Mollisfossen waterfall, are numerous. The park is used as pasture for the semi-domestic reindeer of Kautokeino. From Olderdalen near Nordreisa it is possible to take a boat to Lyngseidet in the beautiful Lyngen Alps.
