In the past, Gargnano was the largest lemon-producing center on Lake Garda, so much so that an export company was founded here, shipping citrus fruit all over Europe. Today, lemon growing has been abandoned. However, on the outskirts of the town there are still clear traces of the terraced orange groves. The heart of Gargnano is its square and small port, dominated by the ancient town hall (15th century) and Via Roma with its many shops. Also worth a visit is the 13th-century church of San Francesco. Today, Gargnano is a popular destination for sailing enthusiasts.
