One hour from Barcelona, this mountain crowned by a monastery is a place of pilgrimage and breathtaking walks.

The origin of Montserrat dates back to the ninth century, but it is from the fifteenth century that its reputation is established, becoming later an important cultural center thanks to its music school. The Moreneta or Black Virgin of Montserrat, a polychrome wooden statue from the 12th century, is a fine example of the Romanesque-Catalan style. In 1881, the Virgin of Montserrat was proclaimed patron saint of Catalonia by Pope Leo XIII. Since 1947, she has been enthroned on a silver altarpiece, paid for by popular subscription, in the upper part of the apse of the basilica.

Superb visit to Barcelona by the train, then the mesh and the full visit takes the day. Well on the site is very visited and you must queue to have the privilege of seeing the black virgin and touch "the globe" that she holds in hand. The museum is full of treasures. The audiophone visit is interesting and allows you to stay on the site as long as you want and listen to the comments. We booked via the Internet of France.

Le monastère est perché sur une montagne mais il peut être aperçu depuis la vallée. Le paysage est assez impressionnant. Le téléphérique n'est pas obligatoire pour y accéder, mais la vue y est superbe ! Ne pas hésiter à le prendre.
L'ensemble de l'édifice est assez massif. L'intérieur de la basilique est très joli, et l'une des spécificités est la présence de plusieurs dizaines d'encensoirs de toutes les formes suspendus le long des allées.

Lieu spirituel sur un magnifique site montagneux. n'hésiter pas à monter au sommet avec le funiculaire vous y trouverez des sentiers pédestres et de magnifiques panoramas . Accès possible avec la voiture au coeur du site pour les personnes à mobilité réduite. Il faut juste montrer la carte d'handicap au gardien.

Un endroit tout à fait spectaculaire ! Vous pouvez y accéder soit par le téléférique, soit par un train à crémaillère. Du Monastère, vous pouvez accéder à la Santa Cova et à San Juan par des funiculaires. C’est un site où l’on peut faire de belles randonnées et observer au loin les Pyrénées. La Basilique et le monastère sont magnifiques, la file d’attente pour voir la Vierge noire est assez longue.
