The Serra de Montserrat is an exceptional site first of all from a geological point of view. One feels very small as one approaches the steep rocks that make up the Serra de Montserrat, at an altitude of 1,236 metres. The monastery was built according to the legend of the Blessed Virgin and Montserrat has since been recognised as a great place of Catalan and Spanish Catholicism. Eighty monks live there with the aim of preserving this place as a place of prayer and recollection. Montserrat is also a must-see site for hiking enthusiasts. Numerous trails criss-cross the mountain, revealing sumptuous landscapes.
