This charming little Uckermark town (where former Chancellor Angela Merkel grew up) was bombed during the Second World War, but has preserved some fine monuments, including the entire town wall with its towers, gates and guardhouses. It is 1,750 m long and 7 m high. There's also the baroque town hall, and many half-timbered houses. And with no concrete towers or dilapidated factories, the town retains its country charm. Templin is right in the middle of a region of lakes (Templiner See, Fährsee, Lubbesee, Roddelinsee) and seems a little lost in the middle of nowhere. A pleasant place for a hike.
