Gothic church with a trapezoidal plan and three naves, the central one with a vault on a star-shaped ribbed cross
The Church of San Salvador, a jewel of Gothic art, was the setting for the General Assembly of 1397, which decreed the birth of the province of Gipuzkoa. Classified as a National Monument since 1895, its construction dates back to the 14th century and continued until the 18th century. It has a trapezoidal plan with three naves. The central nave is topped by a cross vault with star-shaped ribbed vaults. Note its slightly sloping paving, which follows the slope of the narrow streets of the old town. The triforium is also worth a look!
