The small municipality of Alatskivi, in the county of Tartu, had a population of around 390 at the last census in 2020. There are lovely little hiking trails to discover the surrounding countryside, with swings to try your hand at traditional kiiking. Little known to European tourists, this national sport has been a great success with young Estonians since 1996. Kiik in Estonian means "swing" and kiiking means "to swing". For more information on hiking trails, ask at the tourist offices in nearby towns.
