Historic hotel located in the heart of downtown offering very comfortable and modern rooms

This historic hotel, built in 1924, is located in the heart of downtown. An ideal location for strolling to the city's main attractions, with Stanford University just two kilometers away. The hotel lobby plunges you into the history of old Palo Alto, with its Spanish Renaissance style that has retained a real cachet, thanks to numerous period antiques: antique fireplace, safe, light fixtures... The rooms, meanwhile, are very comfortable and dressed in classic style, yet equipped with contemporary furnishings.

I measured it: Oodles of charm. Much nicer than the generic chain hotel.

Really lovely, classic hotel in the heart of downtown Palo Alto. Location is incredible for night life and great restaurants and luckily parking isn't difficult in the area.

The rooms are classic, sizable, and comfortable. Decorations are classic and high quality.

You might hear some late night noise from the street, but it's manageable. Front desk is very helpful and polite. Can't wait to stay again.

I did not like the crepe at their Bistro Maxine because it was more like crepecake (between pancake and crepe). I asked for extra syrup to be able to eat it like I would pancakes but the syrup was expensive and they did not have a way to charge me for it so they were annoyed at me. The hotel and Bistro general manager Stephanie pointed to me that my breakfast was complimentary (I paid close to $1,000 for 2 nights) and she suggested that I go enjoy breakfast at any of the other nearby restaurants! I was hurt and they ruined my stay!

A nice hotel at downtown Palo Alto. This year is the hotel 100th birthday. Rooms are spacious with ceiling fan and radiator heater. Along the corridor at each floor there are fans operating as well as the standard radiator heaters.
At the lobby, there is a cold/hot water dispenser and a wide selections of tea to choose from.
Breakfast if selected during your stay, can be take at nearby bistro called Bistro Maxine (instructions given by the hotel front desk on how to order your breakfast). I have enjoyed staying in this hotel.
