The Indonesian island of Bintan is an ideal destination for a relaxing weekend by the beach. Much more touristy than its neighboring islands, Bintan boasts a multitude of well-equipped facilities to ensure you have a unique time.Initially developed for Singaporean and Indonesian tourists, Bintan is tending to develop its potential and is attracting more and more Chinese, Japanese and Korean tourists, who travel without even transiting through Singapore. The island is packed with resorts, concentrated in the northern part. Relaxation, farniente and beaches are the order of the day. Historically, this former Dutch trading port has preserved a few snippets of its colonial past, as can be seen in the architecture of the well-preserved buildings in the south of the island at Tanjunpinang, its capital. And if you choose to go off the beaten track, particularly on the east coast, you'll find a more authentic corner of Indonesia.
