Located to the south of Singapore, Ghost Island is aptly named, since at low tide only one island is visible, Pulau Hantu Besar (the large ghost island), and as soon as the sea rises, the water covers part of the island, splitting it in two. The small ghost island then appears, Pulau Hantu Kechil. The small islands around Singapore are the subject of many beautiful legends... It is said that two Malay warriors clashed on an island, the fight causing the death of several nearby combatants who poisoned the sea with their blood... The Djinns living at the bottom of the water, disturbed by this tumult, sucked the two warriors to the bottom of the abyss. But their battle continued, and the Djinns eventually blinded one of the warriors, who was finally pierced by his opponent's sword. But he found the time and strength to do the same... Both men died at the same moment, their ghosts haunting the island ever since...Despite its proximity to the Pulau Bekom refineries, Pulau Hantu is home to some very interesting marine life, which Singaporean divers come to observe. It's a great place to swim, stroll along the beach or through the mangroves, and simply relax.
