Chongming Island is located in the mouth of the Yangzi and is the 3rd largest Chinese island (after Hainan and Taiwan). Not known until the late 1990 s, the island was given a population displacement when constructing the Trois-Gorges dam. The municipality of Shanghai is now trying to develop the region in particular around the theme of ecotourism. Chongming is therefore a nice place to escape the time of a day of the frenzy of the city.
