Carrouges is a pretty village in the heart of the Normandy bocage and its rolling hills. Home to the Maison du Parc Normandie-Maine, the town features a medieval château surrounded by a moat. To get to the castle, you have to leave the church in the village and take an old cobbled path that's easier to walk down than up, whether you're on foot or by bike! Chapels, noble houses, manor houses... the surrounding area is full of wonderful discoveries. It's also the site of the legend of the Carrouges fairy: branded in his red pulpit, Karl le rouge, son of the local lady, is said to have suffered a fairy's vengeance by bearing this stigma on his forehead.
