The Konorchek Gorge is located 120 km from Bishkek, in the direction of Lake Issyk Kul. Here, you'll find impressive canyons, ranging in height from 200 to 600 m, and a beautiful red color. Even if it doesn't reach the dimensions and gigantism of its distant American cousin, it remains one of the most beautiful sites in Kyrgyzstan, wild, carved by wind and ice and with a hostile climate in both winter and summer. Bishkek-based agencies organize treks in this region and, if you're an experienced mountaineer, you can even climb the 4,250 m peak of Dostouk.
