45 km south of Bishkek. The sanatorium built near the thermal springs of Issyk Ata attracts many locals. Known for their beneficial effects, these springs were frequented by nomads and, under the Tsar, Russian settlers who came to take the waters stayed there in yurts. Not far from the sanatorium are Tibetan rock engravings dating from the 10th century and a cave that was inhabited a few decades ago by an Uzbek shaman.
