The small town of Diessen lies on the shores of Lake Ammersee, around ten kilometers from Andechs and fifty kilometers south of Munich. It is best known for its church, the Marienmünster, one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in Germany, with its rich murals, including the famous Diessen Sky. The two artists behind this work of art are Johann Michael Fischer and François Cuvilliés. Admire the painting of Mary ascending to heaven. It was painted by the Italian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. Beyond that, there's nothing very spectacular to discover in this small, uneventful commune.
