With an area of 750,000 hectares, it is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic national parks in Patagonia. Dr. Francisco P. Moreno even recalled the unique beauty of its landscapes in his writings: "the region is home to the most interesting gathering of natural wonders I have ever seen in Patagonia". An explorer for the Argentine government's Boundary Commission, Perito Moreno was compensated for his services by receiving a piece of land on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi. In 1903, he proposed to begin the creation of a national park from his land: the Nahuel Huapi Park, which adopted its definitive name in 1934. Today it is the oldest national park in the country. The grandiose silhouette of the Andes mountain range, lurking on the horizon, reveals surprising curves and reliefs: between lakes and peaks, pine and cypress forests rub shoulders with tumultuous rivers and bucolic waterfalls. It is a constant banquet of colors, southern mischief and coquetry, especially when you have been on the Patagonian steppe for days. An oasis of Patagonia, the Nahuel Huapi Park is full of activities and surprises. From solitary hikes to canyoning sessions, diving, kayaking, via ferrata, climbing, rafting... the possibilities of exploration are almost endless. And when the weather gets cloudy and the fog invites itself on the surface of the lakes, then a simple contemplation becomes an event in itself.
