Hotel Pestana boasts an exceptional location. You'll have the chance to sleep in a building dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 48 rooms are modern and spacious, and the most beautiful have an absolutely marvellous view of the Douro. Buffet breakfast is served on the terrace. The Rib restaurant, which focuses on meats, is exceptional. Smiling, professional welcome. A very good address.

We stayed here four nights...but boy what a s***show it has been. The junior suite we were in had sewage smell in it..when we complained it became clear the staff already knew about it. They moved us to a diff room but then wanted to charge us a higher price, which we reluctantly agreed to. The next night they told us that the new room was no longer available and that they would move us to an even better room. But put us in the cheapest and smallest room of the hotel, even as we paid for junior suit. When we complained they stopped resupplying our room with fresh toiletries and water etc. One of the managers, I can't remember her name, thinks the guests are stupid and can't tell the difference between a cheap room and a better room. What a scam this place is. We will never stay here again or any of their properties. Given our sewage smell experience for the first night, we are going to get health check as soon as we get home. Our 12yr old has been sick since we got here.

El trato en la cafetería ha sido muy muy malo. Lento, mal educado y caro. No os lo recomendamos.

Nos paramos a tomar un café en la terraza y tardaron muchísimo en salir a atendernos. Le pedimos un café con leche y me dice que si cortado, le digo que no y me trae un cortado que con la espuma que venía… la tacita se quedó en la mitad… no me llego ni a la garganta. Además de todo eso… 3,30€. Evitar venir aquí.

Nous sommes passés boire un apéritif en terrasse. Le cadre est sympa et les prix sont raisonnables. Serveurs sympas !

Wir waren nur im Café, das sehr nett eingerichtet ist, Bedienung auch nett (noch netter wenn man Hotelgast ist sonst ist man 2.klasse)
ABER:
—in der Karte war ein Preis angegeben, auf der Rechnung war’s dann ein Stück teurer und es kam servicegebühr dazu.
— aufs klogehen ist eher nur für Hotelgäste gedacht, auf Nachfrage wird man etwas angeranzt, nur für Hotelgäste- eins steht dann zur Verfügung, lange Schlange
— als camino Pilger gibt es einen Stempel nur für Hotelgäste oder für 2€
