One of the prettiest villages in the area, 7 km from Durango, at the foot of the mountains. It is there that you will be able to admire the sanctuary of Urkiola, whose date of construction remains rather unclear, probably between the 8th and 11th centuries. The Muntsaratz Tower, probably built in the 9th century, is also worth mentioning; the Casa de Astola is another remarkable monument. Sports enthusiasts will be in heaven here: the network of routes through the beautiful countryside is immense, and can be covered on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback. The 12th of May is celebrated here as the patron saint's day, with dances in honour of Santo Domingo
