Wilmington's main street is lined with galleries and boutiques, housed in attractive 18th- and 19th-century mansions. The town is a stop on the Molly Stark Trail. The route is named after the wife of General Stark, famous for her revolt at the Battle of Bennington in 1777. Today, the route is dotted with plots of all ages. For 48 miles (approx. 75 km), you'll cross part of the Green Mountain Forest, from Brattleboro to Bennington, via Marlboro, Wilmington and Woodford. At Wilmington, the road leads to Molly Stark State Park, where hiking trails abound.
