Just over 45 km southwest of Kingman, this town founded in 1906 and its gold mines were among Arizona's most important until the 1930s. Once a ghost town, it is now a tourist commune on Route 66, with numerous souvenir stores, restaurants in historic buildings and an old post office. The town is best known for its mules, which outnumber the locals. It's not unusual to see them on the main avenue, while modern-day cowboys duel with pistols. A pleasant stopover.
