The San Francisco Peaks are approaching and thin bushes are slowly appearing. Winona is a ghost town that is only interesting for its old 1922 bridge, the Walnut Canyon Bridge, located on a short deviated portion of Route 66, one mile from exit 211, on Route 394 (Route 66 from 1920-1930). Winona was featured in 1946 with Bobby Troup's " Get your kicks on route sixty-six", covered by Nat King Cole and others. The composer quoted it among many other cities crossed during the journey "...You see Amarillo, Gallup, New-Mexico, Flagstaff, Arizona. Don't forget Winona, Kingman, Barstow, San Bernandino.
