Erick, the last town before the Texas border, was founded in 1901 by a ranching community. It was the discovery of natural gas and oil deposits in the 1930s that ensured its development until the end of the Second World War. The town then declined. Two famous country artists were born or raised here: Sheb Wolley (1921-2003) and Roger Miller (1936-1992). The Roger Miller Museum (at the corner of Route 66 and Sheb Wooley St) is now closed. However, Erik has a nice surprise in store for you: stop by the Sand Hill Curiosity Shop, run by Harley, a local and even international figure.
