Here is a part of Route 66 that has been abandoned and whose future is unfortunately getting darker by the day. Arlington is a community located just northeast of the confluence of the Little Piney and Gasconade Rivers. Located on the last stretch of Missouri Route 66 to be paved in 1931, it was once home to a popular vacation spot. 2.5 miles before Arlington along Route 66 (Arlington Outer Road), at Exit 176 off I-44, are John's Modern Cabins, wooden bungalows that made up a motel that closed in 1957. Some of the ruins are still standing... but probably not for much longer
