This sumptuous park stretches across a southern portion of the Sierra Nevada, east of the city of Fresno. It includes parts of the San Joaquin and Kings rivers, the latter notably in its granite Kings Canyon section. The park is home to the world's second largest tree, the General Grant Tree, part of the General Grand Grove forest. The tree stands 81.50 m tall and has a volume of 1,320m3. Kings Canyon National Park covers an area of 1,869 km2. It adjoins Sequoia National Park to the north. Their administration is shared; for practical information, see Sequoia NP.
