The tiny island of Badija is located east of the town of Korčula. It is the largest of its archipelago. The Bosnian Franciscans were the first to settle there, at the end of the 14th century and lived in their monastery until 1950, when they were dispossessed of it under the pretext of military and social needs (sports club). For some years now, the community has been able to move back to its land. To see, the big church of the XVth century of Gothic and Renaissance style, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin. The island is accessible only by water cab from the port of Korčula (or possibly from Orebić).
