110 km from Cairo, the most important city of the Fayoum is home to nearly one million inhabitants. Its streets are invaded by trucks, buses and motorbikes that are full of smoke and horns, juggling the life of pedestrians as if they were simple skittles. It's a bit wild as a first approach, but the presence of norias in the city centre is soothing. The countryside is not far away, just at the gates of the city.
