Aside from a few wine cooperatives specializing in pošip and a handful of churches, Smokvica is not full of attractions and feels like a sleepy little inland village between Korčula (30 km away) and Vela Luka (18 km away). Interesting if you want to buy local products (especially wine) or if you want to learn more about kumpanija, the traditional sword dance, different from the moreška you'll see in Korčula-City. Hiking and mountain biking routes cross the Smokvica region in all directions. A curiosity: in Croatian, the term smokvica means "little fig tree".
