The small village of Čara is a former agricultural center with 700 inhabitants, located 25 km from Korčula and famous for its Pošip (white wine) and olive oil. All around the village, therefore, you'll see vineyards, wine cellars and olive presses, where it's good to venture out for tastings. In Čara itself, the church of Notre-Dame-des-Champs is an island pilgrimage site, while near the church of Saint-Pierre, grows an old cypress tree protected by law. Finally, Čara is a must on the way to the charming coastline around Zavalatica. Buses running between Vela Luka and Korčula (and vice versa) stop at Čara.
