Located on the outskirts of Leh, on the banks of the Indus River, about 8 kilometres from the centre. Minibuses shuttle daily between 8 am and 8 pm (departures every 30 minutes, duration: 15 minutes).
The village is the refuge of a large Tibetan community that fled Tibet following the invasion of China. Their living conditions are really not easy, so if you have the time, take a little trip to the local craft shops. This is where His Holiness the Dalai Lama comes to spend a few days in summer. He provides religious education there every year. You will also see beautiful chörtens lined up.
