It is located to the northeast, in the interior of the lagoon, just a short distance from the coast. Wild and undeveloped, it is accessible to travellers who, however, visit it more rarely than Plate and Gabriel islands. It must be said that the beaches are a little less beautiful and the seabed less rich except for the sea turtles, omnipresent in the nearby area. On the other hand, the shores of the island are planted with mangroves and its many lush channels are pleasant to explore by boat. It is allowed to picnic on the island, and many Mauritians do so on weekends, provided that they do not leave any rubbish behind so as not to damage the fragile environment. The translucent waters of the lagoon are perfect for a dip.To get there, it is recommended to use local service providers or fishermen with a tourist license, many of whom organize the excursion. We have to admit that we like the sea kayak trip offered by Yemaya Adventures: paddling through the mangrove channels, swimming in the clear waters filtered by the mangrove trees and having a picnic in a creek.
