COYOTE'S FORTRESS

The history of this defensive structure is all too commonplace: wars (between the national army and North American troops in 1912, and between Somoza's National Guard and Sandinista guerrillas), Somozist torture and resistance over the past century. From the top of this ^19th-century fortress, you can enjoy an incomparable 360° panoramic view, one of the finest in the region, of the city and volcano of Masaya, lakes Managua and Nicaragua, and the Mombacho volcano.
