Santa Bárbara is a small town of 30,500 inhabitants nestled at an altitude of 730 meters. Its main asset is its location at the foot of the impressive Serra do Caraça, a popular destination for nature and mountain lovers, offering countless hiking trails and waterfalls. The town itself, located 70 km north of Ouro Preto, has undergone a major overhaul of its historic town center, which has yet to be completed, and of its main masterpiece: the Matriz de Santo Antônio. You can visit the Nossa Senhora Mãe dos Homens sanctuary, the Cordão de São Francisco chapel and the Nossa Senhora das Mercês church.
