The Villa Vauban, a cultural treasure located in the heart of Luxembourg City, offers a unique artistic experience in an architectural setting combining tradition and modernity. The villa, dating from 1873, has been renovated with a contemporary extension that blends harmoniously with the historic charm of the site. The museum takes its name from an 18th-century fort, part of which can still be admired in the museum's basement, adding a historical dimension to the visit.

Exhibitions feature works from the City of Luxembourg's collections, highlighting treasures of 17th-century Dutch art and 19th-century French paintings, including works by masters such as Eugène Delacroix and Jules Dupré. The collection also includes paintings and sculptures by Luxembourg artists of the 19thand 20th centuries, who influenced art before and after the Second World War. It is regularly supplemented by donations and acquisitions. In addition to the permanent collection, temporary exhibitions allow visitors to discover different periods and styles.

Nestled in the heart of a park designed by landscape architect Édouard André, the Villa Vauban offers a serene, soothing ambience in the middle of the city. The park has been carefully restored to its original appearance, offering visitors a verdant setting in which to relax. A must-see for art lovers and the curious from all horizons!

The recently renovated museum with a welcoming garden with a few works of art makes it possible to cross the doorstep. The museum is larger than it suggests with the basement dumps. The exhibition on Jerome Bosch and the fantastic works of the Middle Ages was original though rather specialized. The rest of the exhibitions with photographs and paintings have been less popular. Advice based on interest for the visitor of the museum's pointed programming.
Beautiful renovation, the setting is pleasant but the exhibition rained me less.
