This nature reserve was created in 1925 to preserve the environment and protect rare species, in particular beavers who at the time were in the process of extinction. Of only 20 individuals at the time, their population rose to 200! Listed in UNESCO's list of biosphere reserves, with its 85 000 hectares of land, with more than 22 000 hectares of hunting reserve, the Berezinskij reserve is a wilderness oasis that counts areas of primary forest, large marshes and lakes. The variety of natural systems is the basis of a very rich fauna and flora. There are more than 2 000 species of plants and 336 species of animals, including 230 species of birds. Alimenté River is powered by over 110 rivers and crosses the reserve from north to south over km. Flood land around is a real paradise for wild ducks, otters, beavers, visons and other creatures that live there. Occupying an area of 43 000 hectares, the marsh area strikes by the infinity of its landscapes. Inhabited by small islands covered by secular trees, these marshes have generally preserved their original appearance. Forests of black oaks, ash and aulnes are lost in the distant distance. Black stork, cranes, grey herons, many birds of prey, elk, brown bears, wild boar: Proximity to the animals certainly surprises visitors. A place of incredible wealth nestled in the heart of Belarus! The reserves of Barsuki and Bérézina offer hunting and fishing activities. For more information, please contact the park office.
