At the bottom of the Zagmouzen valley, a tributary of the Souss wadi, Taliouine is a very pleasant stop between Agadir and Ouarzazate. Taliouine, plural of Talat, "stream" in Berber, takes its name from the streams that flow into the valley. The vegetation is abundant and contrasts with the aridity of the surrounding mountains which gives the site an exceptional hue. The town has only about 5,000 inhabitants. It is primarily known for its saffron production, of which you can buy a few grams at Dar Azaafaran or at the Monday souk. The region also offers beautiful walks through the surrounding mountains.
