Founded in 1866 by Abbé Provost, one of the promoters of the conquest of the North, and canonically erected four years later, it is one of the highest municipalities in Quebec (488 meters). Situated between Parc national du Mont-Tremblant and Réserve faunique Mastigouche, it is home to several outfitters offering summer and winter fishing. It's also a Mecca for snowmobilers, with the Trans-Québec 63 trail passing directly through its territory. To take full advantage of the bountiful natural surroundings, the Au Pays de Réal Massé outfitter is a must, as is the Sept-Chutes regional park.
