Located at the entrance to an ancient glacial valley where the tumultuous Black River flows, this community is on Route 131 which leads to Saint-Michel-des-Saints and Lac Taureau. Sainte-Émélie-de-l'Énergie was named after the wife of the first settler in the area. It has several outdoor and four-season resort facilities on its territory, starting with the Matawinie trail, which crosses five municipalities over a distance of nearly 160 km. This trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail. In summer, there is also a beautiful family beach on the shores of a small lake in the heart of Sainte-Émélie.
