A commune between the lake, the beach of Redon and the port of Séchex, and the mountain, the hill of Allinges, which looks towards the Alps. Margencel has a public beach and a charming hamlet (the commune is composed of about ten hamlets) on the edge of Lake Geneva. It is there that one must come to savor the famous fish of the lake, of which the unavoidable perch fillets. The main town is organized around the Saint-Laurent church which would have been built on a very old chapel, since a certain Margentius could have founded it in the 6th or 7th century. The church has been the object of many alterations. Stroll in the forest of Planbois.
