Crossed by the eponymous river, Versoix is considered a medium-sized town by population, with 13,000 inhabitants. It lies on the border with the canton of Vaud. One of its major assets is its privileged position on Lake Geneva, with the Port-Choiseul beach, which is very popular in summer. It is also one of the communes that perpetuate Swiss chocolate-making tradition and expertise. Two major companies are based in Versoix: the Cartier chocolate factory, founded and established in Versoix in 1858, and the Chocolats Favarger factory, founded in 1826 and established in Versoix in 1875.
