Chêne-Bourg is one of three communes making up the Trois Chêne region. An oak tree in the middle of ancient pastures is said to have given these communes their name (hence "Chêne" without the s). With a population of around 8,000, this small town borders France and is the main route linking Geneva to France from the Annemasse conurbation. In addition to the flow of traffic, Chêne-Bourg boasts a beautiful setting, including the Parc Floraire and its centuries-old garden. The picturesque Old Oak Tree bears witness to the passage of merchants from France to Geneva.
