Located on a promontory overlooking the lands watered by the Ebro, the village of Briones is a must stop on the Rioja Wine Route for its important Wine Culture Museum. On the third weekend in June each year, the Medieval Days are celebrated, a festivity that depicts the daily life of the inhabitants of a 14th-century Castilian village. Briones is home to a number of old houses with coats of arms (Palacio del Marqués de San Nicolás), including the imposing sixteenth-century, Renaissance and Isabeline style, three-nave church of La Asunción and the Santo Cristo de los Remedios chapel
