La Franqui was one of the very first Aude seaside resorts. An advantage linked to its geographical location, at the foot of the cliff, the pine forest and the impressive beach of Les Coussoules, which stretches for 8 km to Port-la-Nouvelle. La Franqui also benefited from the fame of the adventurer and writer Henry de Monfreid, born in the village in 1879. It's nice to walk along the brand new waterfront along the shoreline, or on the path that runs under the cliff. But La Franqui has also become for several years the unmissable meeting place for kitesurf and windsurf lovers, with the Mondial du Vent.
