The village of Marpissa is built amphitheatrically on a small hill near Mount Kefalos (200 m). At the top are the monastery and church of Aghios Antonios (16th century), the red-roofed Byzantine church of Metamorphosis and a museum housing some 100 works by Greek sculptor Nikos Perandianos. Below, the Venetian castle (16th century) rises and, near the central square, a folk museum presents life in Marpissa through the ages. The interior of a traditional Parian house has been reconstructed using furniture, tools and clothing donated by the local population.
