The large island of Mitsio is inhabited by fishermen. As you pass Cape Mitsio (Mitaraka Point, a famous diving spot), the land offers the spectacle of great basaltic organs whose color fluctuates from violet to vermilion according to the hours of the day and the movements of the sun. In the center of the island, the dense vegetation is made up of tamarind, coconut and banana trees. The bay of Marimbe is home to a fishing village. They build pirogues for their community. The island's coastline is dotted with magnificent beaches ideal for swimming and lounging.North of the Mitsio. Numerous islands, dotted with fishing villages or deserted, border Grande Terre in a multitude of small archipelagos. The sheer number of islands makes it impossible to name them all. From Mitsio, heading north, you'll come across Nosy Lava, Nosy Mananono, Nosy Valiha, Nosy Anambo, Nosy Faly, Nosy Hara and Nosy Hao. The seabed of Nosy Fisaka is beginning to attract divers, while Alandrota Bay and Antankarana Point are popular spots for specialists. Three islands have been listed for their magnificent seabed: Nosy Vasoana, Nosy Maroni and Nosy Toloho. Nosy Ankarea is a small island to the north of Grande Mitsio. The clear waters on the Grande Terre side (east of Ankarea) are ideal for snorkeling and diving. Sleeping sharks can be found at impressive depths.
