Look out for this magnificent natural site! Around 2 hours by boat from Nosy Be, Nosy Iranja is the best-known islet in northern Madagascar. The site's originality lies in a tongue of sand just over 1 km long linking the small Iranja to the large one. The beauty of the site lies in this feature, which can be appreciated from the foot of the lighthouse on Grande Iranja, offering a magnificent panorama of the two islets and the sandbar. The immaculate sands of the coconut-shaded beaches, bordered by translucent turquoise water, are trodden daily by flocks of budding Robinsons. The area is a major nesting ground for green and hawksbill turtles, so it's not uncommon to witness this miracle of nature in season. Underwater, magnificent humphead wrasse swim against a coral backdrop, alongside a host of other marine species such as manta rays, stingrays, reef sharks, humphead parrotfish and more. It's worth noting that a community of fishermen lives on Grande Iranja, adding to the charm of this little piece of land. The lighthouse dates back to the very early 20th century and was designed by Eiffel. Accommodation is available on the island.7 miles from Nosy Iranja lies the Banc du Large, a popular diving spot for specialists.South of Nosy Iranja, on the Grande Terre, Baramahamay Bay is home to villages where pirogues and dhows are made.
